Horse Riding Program at Stonelea Farm
Welcome!
Stonelea Farm offers horse riding lessons for all ages and levels of riders in a fun, safe, friendly atmosphere. Horse riding lessons are taught by Lucia DiBenedetto, a certified instructor with over 15 years of experience teaching riding lessons, and many years of teaching elementary school prior to that. We specialize in teaching a basic balanced seat with more of a focus towards dressage and eventing.
Your child will get to experience all aspects of the horse world, from the basics of horsemanship, such as grooming, tacking and untacking, to every day care, training, and stable management. Through this involvement, children will learn to love, care for, and respect horses.
Offerings at Stonelea Farm
Riding lessons We offer two options; private and semi-private (2 to 3 students only)
Camps Half day and extended day — both have a limited number of students for individual attention; the half-day camp is a more intense skill-set while the extended day is more introductory and includes several activities for a “day at the farm”.
Student-only camp Only open to current students; intense and very hands-on
Hello Pony classes For ages 2 to 6; an introduction to horses, safety with horses, grooming, a ride and a souvenir. This class requires an adult to attend with the child.
Girl Scouts A visit to the farm will help scouts earn their “horse fan” badge or a Brownie “try-it”.
Riding to Recovery A non-profit lesson program for children with chronic illnesses such as cancer, leukemia, brain tumor, cystic fibrosis and sickle-cell anemia.
